My Monthly Book Review...

This month's review is for Mrs England by Stacey Halls :)

Set in Yorkshire in 1904, the story is told in the point of view of young Norland nurse Ruby May as she begins a new placement with a Mr and Mrs England, looking after their four young children.

A wonderfully atmospheric tale moving from the slightly disturbing goings on in the family home, to the local village and the moors. Mrs England has feelings of a Gothic novel but also a very relatable and believable aspect to it that pulls you in and keeps you turning the pages.

The cast of characters are all brilliantly brought to life and as much as I was rooting for Ruby's happiness at the house, I was Mrs England's as well...at the same time becoming ever more wary of the rather creepy Mr England...

I don't want to say anything more for risk of giving parts away but, all in all, a recommended read!
