The Shop Girl Series & The TItanic...

I have been writing for 16 years now and in that time I have always wanted to write a book set (or partially set) on the Titanic. The tragedy is one that continues to fascinate and evoke deep emotional sympathy for all those who survived and those lost their lives. There are hundreds and thousands of Titanic enthusiats all over the world and it pleases me that the Titanic and that terrible night in April 1912 will never be forgotten.

As I am by no means an historian, a non-fiction book was never on the cards, but I love the research part of my job and soon decided that I would send one of Pennington's shop girls to America aboard the fated ship.

This book eventually became A Shop Girl At Sea.

Amelia Wakefield is a quiet, kind girl who harbours ambitions to climb the ladder within Bath's finest Edwardian department store. When the store's owner, Elizabeth Pennington, asks Amelia to go to America on a scouting trip of the department stores across the pond, Amelia is unsure to begin with and then agrees.

Writing the build up to the sinking, the events during and the aftermath was really emotional and tough going at times, but I am immensely proud of A Shop Girl At Sea and it has remained one of my most popular books to date. The story is one of loss, of course, but there is also a huge amount of hope, survival, success and love amongst the pages that I hope means that the reader is taken on a unforgettable journey filled with drama, intrigue and romance...

Bath, 1912.

Amelia Wakefield loves working at Pennington's, Bath's finest department store. An escape from her traumatic past, it saved her life. So when Miss Pennington sets her a task to set sail on the Titanic and study the department stores of New York, she couldn't be more excited – or determined!

Frustrated with his life at home, Samuel Murphy longs for a few weeks of freedom and adventure. Meeting Amelia on board the Titanic, Samuel can't help wonder what painful history has made the beauty so reserved. But he already has too many responsibilities for love.

Ruby Taylor has always kept her Pennington co-workers at a distance. Making sure her little brother is safe has always been her priority. But when that means accepting Victoria Lark's offer of sanctuary, more than one of Ruby's secrets is under threat of being revealed...

A riveting and uplifting saga, perfect for fans of Elaine Everest and Fiona Ford.
