Hi Kathy! So excited to have you here today - I will never forget the wonderful day and night we spent in London with Teri Wilson & Julia London. Such good memories! Wishing you all the best with your latest release, HER TEXAS EX - let's start with my questions...
1.)
What was your first job? Did you like or
dislike it? Why?
My first job was at Walt Disney World in Florida as an Attractions East host in
the Magic Kingdom. I loved it! I used to get excited every day when I drove to
the Magic Kingdom. I worked in a complex of attractions that included three
rides that are no longer there! They were If You Had Wings sponsored by Eastern
Airlines (also no longer in existence!), Mission to Mars where I interacted
with an audioanimatronic NASA guy called Mr. Johnson and then a movie called
American Journeys which was presented Circle Vision 360.
When I first was training to work in the attractions my trainer said I’d have to give a spiel (about 3 minutes long) to a group of 300 people and I freaked out being a very introverted person and suggested maybe I could skip that and he said no but if I couldn’t do it they had openings in the custodial department where I wouldn’t have to talk to anyone. I didn’t want to work in custodial so I learned the spiel and got up in front of what looked like 1000 people and did it. Side note, that experience actually helped me a lot because I started feeling more confident talking in front of people. J
2.)
Do you have a pet peeve? If so what is it?
People who whine. I just can’t stand it.
I mean everyone has stuff they don’t like or stuff they have to do that
they don’t want to do, so suck it up and get on with it. ;)
3.)
Would you describe your style as shabby chic,
timeless elegance, eclectic, country or ____?
My style is…I’d love to say
elegant but it’s not. I like things that are classic, but also sort of eclectic.
I’m not a minimalist in anything and like my stuff!
4.)
Who is your role model? Why?
My role model is my mom. She’s always
been a strong woman and she and my dad raised my sisters and I to believe that
we could do anything.
5.)
How much of your book is realistic?
My book is fiction but I always try to make the emotions and the situations
realistic. I was inspired for Amelia’s
backstory by Liv Tyler who didn’t know who her real father was until she was a
teenager. For a long time I’d been thinking about how that would affect a
person and what the fall out would be. And
it worked well for Amelia’s story.
6.)
What are your ambitions for your writing
career?
Write good books that readers love to read. J
Share one fact about yourself that would surprise people.
Hmm… I’m not sure what people know about me. I sold my first book when I was 26 and have written almost 100 novels since then. I was serenaded by a group of US Marines when I won the Georgia Romance Writers’ Maggie Award for my unpublished book CASANOVA which became THE BACHELOR NEXT DOOR

She couldn’t forget him, even
if she tried…
When Amelia Corbyn was a vulnerable teen, she found out
she wasn’t a Corbyn by blood. Her biological father was a legendary country
singer who wanted nothing to do with her. Hurt and confused, Amelia fled Last
Stand Texas for a modeling career in New York. She left behind her high school
boyfriend and family who had kept too many secrets. Years later Amelia’s back
in Last Stand, retired from modeling and determined to care for her aging
parents. She’s not expecting to see the one man she loved and couldn’t forget.
Even worse, the spark is still there just waiting to burst into a flame.
Former pro-football player Cal Delaney returns to Last Stand to raise his
sister’s toddler after a car accident claims her life along with her husband.
His feelings for Amelia seem stronger than ever, but he has secrets and
responsibilities; and Amelia has already proved to him that when things get
tough, she skips town.
Can Cal
forgive their past so that he and his first love can have a future?
