Inspire Me!!

This week's Inspire Me! is about the beautiful and talented, Grace Kelly...

Just like Meghan Markle, Grace Kelly was an actress who married into a royal family when she fell in love and married Prince Rainier III of Monaco in 1956.

I have been a fan of Grace Kelly for many, many years, ever since I discovered her in Rear Window playing alongside the equally fabulous James Stewart. This is one of my all-time favourite films and if you haven't seen it, you must!

Grace's story is one of fascination, romance, success and tragedy. Not only beautiful, Grace was a sublimely talented actress and a muse of Alfred Hitchcock who cast her in Rear Window, To Catch A Thief and Dial M for Murder. Theirs was a tense relationship, bordering on obsessive on Hitchcock's part.

The 1950s was a time of struggle for women to be taken seriously in the arts but there were a few who broke through the restrictions and proved themselves more than a beautiful face and/or perfect figure. I truly believe Grace Kelly was one of these women and, if she hadn't married into royalty, would have gone on to make many more films that would have become classics.

She tragically died in a car crash in Monaco in 1982. Grace, you are gone but most definitely not forgotten...
