Inspire Me!

For this week's Inspire Me! I'm talking about the beautiful Elizabeth Taylor.

Not only sexy, fabulous quick-witted and minded, Elizabeth Taylor had a presence that continued to fascinate from the first time she appeared on screen, until she died. Part of her fame was made up of her multiple marriages and two rather turbulent marriages with co-screen icon, Richard Burton. Yet, this was a woman who could, undoubtedly, hold her own without need for a man.

Whether she understood that deep-down is a question, unfortunately, I can't help but contemplate.

Two-time Academy Award winner as well as receiving numerous other awards, Taylor starred in many critically-acclaimed films, including two of my favourites, Cleopatra and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Appointed a dame in 1999, Taylor shone as a wonderfully robust, no-nonsense woman who made huge strides in her philanthropic work as well obtaining one of the most expensive jewellery collection anyone has ever seen.

A screen icon, mother and wife, she went on to have a fascinating and enduring friendship with Michael Jackson and others, she was someone who wasn't going to be put down by the tabloids or anyone else, for that matter.

Whatever mistakes and regrets she might have had in her seventy-nine years, Elizabeth Taylor's image will be eternally branded in our memory and her sheer presence continually inspiring.

Happy Inspiration Day!
