MY MONTHLY BOOK REVIEW!! (BLOG TOUR)

MY REVIEW

This month's review is for THE OFFICER'S WIFE by Catherine Law.

I know they say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover (and I'm an author, for crying out loud), BUT I will admit that it was the cover that first drew me to this WWII novel by 'new to me' author Catherine Law.

The heroine, Vivi Miles is an American heiress visiting her family's home in London where she meets naval officer Nathan - they marry and Vivi becomes entrenched in the lives of Nathan's parents and his  family history where nothing is as it seems. When Nathan leaves for war, Vivi uncovers more and more about his family and then she finds a small cottage on the estate that seems to have had a life all of its own...

I can't say anymore without spoilers, but I thoroughly enjoyed THE OFFICER'S WIFE and will be looking out for more of Catherine's work in the future. Recommended!

 The Officer’s Wife

1939 - American heiress Vivi Miles falls for naval officer Nathan as soon as she arrives in England. And, under the threat of war, they marry in a whirlwind before he leaves to join his ship.

When Nathan returns from Dunkirk injured, he is distant, aloof, and no longer the man Vivi fell in love with. But it’s not just because of his brutal experiences of war. Nathan has a secret and Vivi suspects it’s linked to the mysterious evacuee at the secluded house in the woods on his Kent estate.

As war continues to rage, Vivi battles her own grief and loneliness, and tries to find out the truth of the girl’s identity, uncovering a scandal from the past.

Is her love for Nathan strong enough to survive?
