1.)
What genre do you typically read?
My favorite is Romantic Suspense or Crime/Detective
Suspense as long as there is a relationship involved.
Why? I like character driven stories, and I
find if there is a romantic relationship involved entangled with the drama of a
murder or some other crime trope, the book will keep me turning pages to the
end.
2.)
Share a favourite childhood memory.
I enjoyed a kind of Leave it to Beaver
childhood. My earliest fond memory revolved around the arrival of my father
coming home from work at the end of the day. At the time, I had one younger
sister. Mom would change us out of our play clothes and brush our hair before
his arrival. She would take her hair out of curlers and put on a fresh house
dress after getting dinner on the stove. When we’d hear his truck, we’d run out
onto the porch. Daddy would hug each of us, then I would get the first turn of
being thrown into the air. He caught me of course. I’d always beg for more before
my sister got her turn.
3.)
Do you have any shameless addictions? ie. Tea, Books,
Shoes, Clothes?
Coffee and shoes. My morning is not started
until I pour that first cup of very strong java. I used to doctor it up with
things like coconut oil and honey, but of late I use whole milk and cinnamon
only. And I won’t drink just any ol’ brand. My husband calls me a coffee snob.
As far as my shoes, my tastes have changed as I’ve matured. There was a time I
existed in high heels, even with my jeans. I’m paying the price now, so my closet
has more kinds of comfortable footwear. Living in Arizona, I own a wide variety
of sandals. I love boots and almost any shoe made by Skecher.
4.)
What do you think is the biggest challenge of writing
a new book?
Writing poses no challenges for me, as far as
ideas, and I’ve never had the typical writer’s block. But finding enough time has
always been a challenge. Life can get in the way, mostly in a good way, but
when troublesome issues arise, creativity gets sucked dry.
5.)
Do you aim for a set amount of words/pages a day?
Been there, done that, and I’ve found it sets
me up for defeat. I usually have a target finish date, and I get there anyway I
can.
6.)
What are your thoughts on writing a book series?
It’s darn near the only way to go. There are some stories that can only be told as they stand. I have two such books. One would never lend itself to follow up books. The other one has possibilities, but I haven’t tackled it. I’m a fan of series writing. I love reading series. Because I like character driven stories, when I read one book and get invested in a character or characters, I want to read more events in their lives. But a piece of advice for new authors who might be reading this—keep detailed files on all of your characters and settings. You have to stay accurate and consistent with your details.
Thanks so much for having me today, Rachel.
Your questions were fun and made me think.

Right there with you on Skechers! I've never been a shoe person, but they made me into one.
