IT'S GUEST AUTHOR SATURDAY!! Please welcome fabulous Boldwood Books author Fay Keenan...

Hello, lovely lady! It is always so great to be able to welcome a personal writer friend along to my blog...especially one I haven't seen in person for so long :( I am thrilled to have the chance for this interview so I can share a little more about you and your latest release NEW BEGINNINGS AT ROSEFORD HALL!

Let's get started with my questions...

1.)                What genre do you typically read? Why?

I tend to read a lot in genre – romance and romantic fiction, partly for fun, but also to see what’s going on in that world. Romantic novels are a great form of escape, even for someone who writes them! However, I have very wide ranging tastes, and I love pretty much anything. I read a lot of YA fiction for my other job as an English teacher, and I’m also very fond of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher. I’m currently working my way through Jeffrey Eugenides, and learning a lot!

2.)                Share a favourite childhood memory.

I was lucky to grow up in a very happy, loving family, so pinning down a specific memory is tricky! I think something that really stands out is the time we just spent together, chilling, watching television, chatting and just being. It’s a privilege to just be able to exist and thrive in that kind of environment, and something I try to do with my own children. I think that’s why I love so many family films – many happy memories of watching things like Back To The Future, and Indiana Jones on the sofa with my siblings and parents. Even today, I have to drop everything and watch certain films if they’re on the TV!

3.)                Do you have any shameless addictions? ie. Tea, Books, Shoes, Clothes?

Coffee! I drink at least six cups a day when I’m working at home. I’m also fond of the pre-loved clothes website, Vinted, and tend to buy a lot of things I shouldn’t from there. And books, of course, lots and lots of books…

4.)                What do you think is the biggest challenge of writing a new book?

Letting go of the previous one! I tend to fall in love with my characters, and leaving them behind is a wrench. It takes me a while to move on from them, but it always happens eventually, and then I fall in love with the next lot.

5.)                Do you aim for a set amount of words/pages a day?

I try for a thousand words a day, but more often than not I’ll do lots on one day and not so much on another. I’ve recently discovered dictation, though, which has boosted my word count a lot (thanks to Liam Livings/Charlie Lyndhurst for the tip!)

6.)                What are your thoughts on writing a book series?

I love series! It’s nice to know that I can return to a place and/or characters again, for a few novels (and it helps with the answer to question 4 if I can check back in on them!).

The start of a brand new series from bestselling author Fay Keenan.

Life in London has lost its sparkle for Stella Simpson.

So when she gets the opportunity to escape to the country for a year, it seems too good a chance to miss. In the beautiful Somerset countryside, the majestic Roseford Hall has been painstakingly restored and is now ready for its grand opening. And as the writer in residence, Stella gets to see it all  – from the rowdy resident peacocks, the hidden secrets of the Hall, to befriending the Lord of the Manor himself.

At the other end of Roseford, single father, Chris Charlton is facing his own refurbishment woes. Rocked by a tragedy two years previously, his plans for crumbling Victorian wreck Halstead House are as stuck as he is.

As Roseford Hall prepares to welcome a new era, and Halstead House’s future is under threat, Chris and Stella find themselves drawn to one another. Can they finally leave their pasts behind, and will Chris and Stella be able to embrace their new beginnings together – or apart…

Escape to the beautiful, idyllic English countryside with Fay Keenan. Romantic, feel-good and utterly charming, this is perfect for all fans of Julie Houston, Cathy Bramley and Holly Martin.

BIO:

I'm so delighted to share my stories with you, which are all set in the beautiful county of Somerset, in the UK, where I'm lucky enough to live. I've written two trilogies of novels so far, all of which have heart-thumpingly romantic settings (some based in reality!) and characters you just want to see gain their happily ever after! My third series of novels is about to start, with the release of 'New Beginnings At Roseford Hall', releasing on 10th March 2022, so if you want to join me in the beautiful village of Roseford, please do preorder the first book now!

I've been working with Boldwood Books to bring you feelgood stories of romance and family life, set against the stunning backdrop of the Somerset countryside. When I’m not writing fiction, I’m a secondary school English teacher, a wife, a mother of two daughters and the keeper of a large, demanding Weimaraner dog called Bertie. I can often be found on the Strawberry Line, being dragged from pillar to post by either dog or children, and I’m only now coming to terms with the fact that some of my students, current and former, occasionally read my novels.

I’m proud to be a member of the Romantic Novelists’ Association, and my next book will be released in March 2022. If you’d like to keep up to date with my writing and find out a little more about me (or my dog!), please subscribe to my newsletter here: http://bit.ly/FayKeenanNewsletter
