Yay! One of my favourite writer friends is stopping by for a chat and to share her latest release, the fabulous MEET ME AT WISTERIA COTTAGE. So happy to have you here, Teresa! Let's kick off with my questions...
1.)
What is the strangest talent you have?
Oh, I don’t know… I’ve got a good memory or a thing
for numbers, so I can remember silly pieces of information like dates, pin
numbers, codes, that sort of thing. Is that a talent?
And I can roll my tongue…
2.)
What is the best Halloween costume you’ve ever
worn?
I was once a spider. I wore a pair of black
jeans/leggings and a long-sleeved black top. I then stuffed two pairs of thick,
black tights with newspaper, and sewed them to the middle of my black top. I used
string to attach them to my arms so they stayed out and moved with my arms (as
legs). And I was a spider!
I was constantly saying that night because I thought
it was hilarious, “let’s leg it!”
3.)
Are the titles of your books important?
I learnt with the release of my first novel not to get
attached to book titles. The publishers like to name them, so I just give them
a working title now and don’t get attached to it.
4.)
If you’re struggling with a scene or difficult
character, what methods help you through it?
I tend to take a step away from my desk and put the
kettle on. Or if the washing machine needs emptying or something like that, I
get on with some chores. Sometimes the menial tasks help me think it out.
5.)
Do you prefer dog, cats or none of the above?
I think if I were to have
one of the above, it would be a cat as they are less of a tie. However, I can’t
afford either so I have a budgie called Rio. He’s very chatty and confident. He
is great company and very easy (and cheap) to keep. I clearly say ‘what you
doing?’ to him a lot, because he now askes me that too – usually when I’m doing
the washing up.
6.)
Who’s your favourite author? Why?
Oh, I have a few but the one which sticks out most for
me the most is Sue Moorcroft. I’ve read all of her books and love them. She’s
an inspiration to me and has helped me on my writing journey.
7.)
Do you have a pet peeve?
I have quite a few subjects
that I like to get on my soapbox about, however, dropping litter I suppose must
be my biggest bugbear. Because it is completely unnecessary!
Take your litter home if you
can’t find a bin! Don’t throw it out your car window – was it doing any harm in
your footwell? And don’t leave it on a beach, in a field… don’t leave it
anywhere on the planet, frankly. It is completely unacceptable behaviour. And
teach your children not to do it too!
I’ll step off my soapbox
now.
I was taught not to drop
litter but working 4 years at Thorpe Park (many moons ago) as a litter-picker
also instilled this pet peeve of mine.
8.)
Do you remember your dreams when you wake up in
the morning?
Nope. But when I do, they are really weird dreams, so
it’s best I don’t remember them.
Meet Me At Wisteria Cottage blurb:
‘Warm, funny…a wonderful read’
International bestselling author Nicola Cornick
A Cornish Escape
After her house is
set on fire and her love life is left in tatters, Maddy Hart can’t believe her
luck when a friend offers her the temporary haven of Wisteria Cottage.
Overlooking the turquoise blue waters of the Cornish coast, the fresh air feels
like a fresh start for her and her broken heart.
Peeking out of the cosy cottage windows, Maddy’s surprised to see her
gorgeous but insufferable neighbour Harry Tudor has been employed to landscape
the garden. But as the wisteria winding its way around the cottage begins to
bloom, an unlikely friendship starts to blossom…
