What
was your first job? Did you like or dislike it? Why? My
dad always said that school was my first job. Looking back on it, he was right.
There were subjects I liked, some I forced myself to like, and then there were
some that I just couldn’t stand. Let’s just say that English and math classes were
on two ends of the enjoyment spectrum.
2.)
Do
you have a pet peeve? If so what is it? It drives me nuts when I
receive texts with numbers and letters in them to write a sentence. For example,
“I can’t wait 2 C u!” Seriously, it drives me crazy!
3.)
Would
you describe your style as shabby chic, timeless elegance, eclectic, country or
____? Believe it or not, I can be all the above. I grew up
in Dallas, but my family has a ranch just outside of the city, so I can go from
an elegant dress to cowboy boots and jeans in no time. Though, my favorite style
is pajama-style. J
4.)
Tell
me about your book {insert title here} and where you got your inspiration for
it? “Cards From Khloe’s Flower Shop” is a book about three
women who are at different points in their lives, career and romance-wise.
Khloe struggles with trust issues and running her business; Connie’s an ugly
duckling who is really a beautiful soul; and Gabby is learning if it’s possible
to love again after losing her husband.
This book was written during
NaNoWriMo, and it’s one I’m quite proud of. Also, it was written in only 17
days. Oh, one more thing…in the first draft, there was a man Richard who was
having an affair with a much younger woman. I’ve often thought about writing
his story as a novella, but who knows?!
5.)
Who
is your role model? Why? I don’t really have just one role model, but there
are several women in different aspects of my life (marriage, friends and
family, career, etc.) that I look up to. I’ve learned a lot from them.
6.)
How
much of your book is realistic? This book is completely
fiction, but I write my characters based on how I think I would act/feel if I
were in their situation.
7.)
What
are your ambitions for your writing career? In the beginning, I
had high ones (wanting to be like Emily Giffin), but I’ve learned that
everyone’s story is different. With that being said, I’m more of a one day at a
time kind of girl now.
8.)
Share
one fact about yourself that would surprise people: Even
though I’m a married woman, I’ve never been on a first date.
Cards From Khloe's Flower Shop
Blurb: As the
owner of a successful florist shop, Khloe Harper trusts her instincts. She has
a strong bond with her family and friends, but after being betrayed by her
last love, she's kept herself at arms’ length from romance. When dashing
entertainment attorney Derek Thomas walks into her store, Khloe’s interest is
piqued. What at first seems like a business relationship quickly turns into romance,
and Derek slowly plucks away the petals she’s been hiding behind. Just as
Khloe lets down her guard, she discovers that Derek may not be worthy of her
love after all.
Frumpy Connie Albright has a faux fascination with an imaginary man named Walt, thinking that by sending herself flowers from him she’ll feel less out-of-place with the “mean girls” she works with. When she comes face to face with her possible prince charming and thinking she might have a happy ending, when a truth is revealed, she wonders if she’ll ever have a Cinderella story.
A recently widowed senior, Gabby Lewis, isn't ready to give up on love—which means releasing herself from survivor's guilt and taking a chance on finding happiness and companionship again. After signing up for an online dating site for senior citizens, much to her surprise, she’s matched with Harry, an energetic and loving man, who quickly eases himself into her heart. Will Gabby take the leap of falling in love again, knowing it’s possible to have two loves of her life?
As each woman’s story develops through flowers and cards sent from Khloe's shop during the Fall months, they begin to learn that love can only truly blossom when you trust your heart.
