EXCERPT

A sigh escaped him. He was wound tight from the stress of the day, and his only desire was to relieve it by getting some shut eye. Unfortunately, her presence in his room drove all thoughts of sleep out the window.

“What are you doing here?” Nicholas picked up a black T-shirt and donned it.

“I needed to speak with you,” she said to the walnut stained door of his bedroom. She stood with her arms hugging her waist as if she was cold, a gesture he noticed she had a habit of doing when she was nervous. Her body was slim, but had curves in all the right places and he had the pleasure of viewing one of those places now. She had a nice, round apple bottom that begged to be grabbed and nibbled. The woman was a magnet, and he was her polar opposite, drawn inexplicably to her. He found his feet moving to stand behind her, his steps muffled by the plushness of his carpet. He inhaled her scent and catalogued it to his memory. She smelled of lavender, vanilla and a hint of something citrus. In a word, she smelled delicious.

“You do know you can turn around,” he said, his voice ruffling the wisps of wayward hair. “Your innocent eyes are protected.”

    1. Thank you, Victoria. The artists at the Wild Rose Press are extremely talented and my artist did a fabulous job. I wanted to incorporate a landmark that represented Puerto Rico and the colonial fort, El Morro, was added.

    1. The one thing that surprised me while writing Need You Now would have to be Amaranth's son, Kenyon, who is Autistic. I enjoyed writing him and trying to get into his mind. I have four boys and one of them is Autistic and I spent a lot of time observing him and how he sees the world. My son tends to be obsessive with certain things and I tried to bring that same compulsion to light in Kenyon. Although I love my primary characters, Nicholas and Amaranth, Kenyon, hands down became my favorite.
