Welcome my friend and small-town romance author, Sharon Struth...

Thrilled to welcome my friend, Sharon Struth, to my blog today! She writes wonderfully emotional small-town romances and I'm a huge fan of her work. Great to have you here, lovely! Let's kick off with my questions...

1.)           What is your favourite thing about yourself?

I’m a very positive person. A glass half-full kind of gal. Now some people might snarl at me. That’s okay. I just can’t help it. I always try to see the positive side of any obstacle.

2.)           What do you wish you’d known before you started writing?

How the real work starts AFTER the book becomes published. You have no idea until it happens and then marketing takes time but writing must go on. But I’m not complaining… not a glass half-full person like me J

3.)           Share a romantic moment in your life.

A few years back, I’d put on a few too many pounds. Let’s just say I wasn’t feeling my prettiest. But my husband walked into the kitchen and said to me, “There’s my beautiful wife.” So I glanced around the room and said “Where?” and he laughed. I gave him a big hug, because no matter how I see myself, he still sees me as beautiful and after twenty-seven years of marriage, that kind of amazes me.

4.)           Do you have any suggestions to help someone become a better writer? If so, what are they?

One suggestion: if it’s too easy, make sure you are doing it right. Writing well is hard. Telling your story isn’t the same as writing an actively told story, where the reader feels part of the action. Writing well comes with time and experience. Don’t rush the process. Spend time learning your craft and it’ll pay off in the long run.

5.)           What did you do growing up that got you into trouble?

Haha…What didn’t I do that got me into trouble might be shorter to answer! Okay, just kidding, sort of. I have this little problem. When someone says, “Don’t do (fill in the blank),” a part of me feels compelled to press forward. A little like my character Maggie in THE TO-DO LIST.

6.)           If I came to your house for dinner what would you prepare for me? Why?

I love to cook!! What I’d make would depend on the season. Maybe a hearty beef stew served with egg noodles and homemade bread in the winter. Or grilled vegetables with salmon and a salad of spinach, strawberries and a lovely balsamic-vinaigrette in the summer, with homemade ice cream for dessert. It’s hard to explain the satisfaction I get from making food for guests, but it’s kind of like my way of showing you that you are welcome in my home.

Relax, she’s got this…

Maggie Harris has her ultra-organized life well in hand, until she finds her neighbor and husband together, in her bed, and the tight hold she keeps on her world unravels, leaving her grasping for an escape. So how can she refuse when she’s handed the dream job of running her aunt’s bookstore and a chance for a fresh start? Even though the bookstore is in Brockport, Connecticut, her former hometown, and a place she’d vowed to leave behind forever.

When someone breaks into Maggie’s new business and leaves a threat on the wall, Detective Cooper Stanton is assigned the case. It’s been twenty years, but Coop hasn’t forgotten the way Maggie once charmed him at every turn—even with her controlling ways. This time, though, Coop refuses to let her seize the reins. What he doesn’t know is she plans to grab them anyway…and she’s got a secret she never shared.
