Hi Ellie! So happy to welcome you to my blog - I'm very much looking forward to learning more about you and your work. Let's kick off with my questions...
1.)
What is your favourite thing about yourself?
I have always aspired to
have the determination to overcome problems and with the challenges my life has
thrown at me over the years I’m proud to say I’ve achieved that.
2.)
What do you wish you’d known before you started
writing?
Actually I’m happy I was in
blissful ignorance. If I had known just
how hard it would be it would have been dispiriting. I don’t think I would have given up (see
above!) but it would have made the journey tougher.
3.)
Share a romantic moment in your life.
A Cornish beach with
moonlight reflecting on the sea.
4.)
Is there one subject you’d never write about as
an author? What is it?
I would never say never but
I love historical novels and I am in awe of the writers who write in that genre
and whose research is so thorough. I’m
not sure I could immerse myself in a period of history enough to do it justice
but I wish I could.
5.)
Do you have any suggestions to help someone
become a better writer? If so, what are they?
Write something every day;
get constructive feedback from a writers’ group or a professional; never give
up.
6.)
If you could be the original author for any
book, what would it be? Why?
Jamaica Inn – I love the
sweeping romantic tale set against the harsh realities of life in Cornwall. It has
a bit of everything and I love that.
7.)
What did you do growing up that got you into
trouble?
I had a lovely childhood,
relaxed and with a lot of freedom. I can’t remember getting into any real
trouble.
8.)
If I came to your house for dinner what would
you prepare for me? Why?
I would either serve my
vegetarian Bolognese with wholewheat noodles which has taken me a long while to
perfect or a classic Sunday roast.
A GOLDEN HOARD JUST
WAITING TO BE DISCOVERED…
With her engagement in tatters, Portable Antiquities
specialist, Jonquil Jones, moves to Cornwall for a fresh start. When a report
arrives of a treasure trove that has lain hidden underground for centuries,
Jonquil can feel her soul stirring with excitement.
Is it a one off or just the beginning of an extraordinary
discovery? It’s Jonquil’s job to find out. There is only one problem: Sebastian
Ableyard. The man who reported the find is the man Jonquil holds responsible
for the break up of her engagement.
Can Jonquil, with the help of the landowner’s handsome son,
Drew Danvers, uncover the ancient landscape’s secrets in time or will plundering
treasure hunters beat them to it? And can Jonquil find a way to set aside her
fears and risk her heart on love once more?
