Welcome Carina Press author, Elise Alden...

Where do you get your ideas?

Inspiration for my books comes largely from thinking about situations I’ve witnessed or emotions I’ve experienced, or from having glimpses into other people’s lives. From overhearing a single remark, perhaps, and extrapolating this into a story based on that one line. I find inspiration sometimes from the things I do in everyday life. Recently I was at an art gallery in Athens, Greece and fell in love with a painting. The more I stared at the woman’s face the more her story came to me, a novella about a girl who has a tough decision to make and lives to rue the consequences. A romance of course, and the hero is the owner of an art gallery. I can’t wait to write their tumultuous romance, but one thing I know: it’s going to be very passionate and full of conflict.

Is your life anything like it was two years ago?

Big fat No! Two years ago I had a 9 to 5 office job and could read 5 or 6 books a week, often more. I live new a small town, where everybody knows everybody else, and I was involved in the community and did a lot of mumsy things. My young daughters have active lives and I often felt as if the only thing I did in my spare time besides read was take them back and forth to their clubs and meets. My life gradually changed after my first novel was accepted for publication by Carina Press, 1 year ago. In the summer my husband and I talked about it, and he told me to do whatever made me happy, that he would support me in my endeavours as an author. A few deep breaths, and I resigned from my day job to be a full-time writer. Gulp! I often work 10 to 12 hour days, writing, editing, answering e-mails and dealing with admin. Being a published author has been a huge learning curve, but one I am overjoyed to be zipping along. Two years ago I would never have imagined answering ‘author interview’ questions for book tours, or being so professionally fulfilled.

BLURB:

Once-famous singer Anjuli Carver has returned to tiny Heaverlock Village alone and nearly broke. She’s poured every last penny into a rambling Victorian manor, hoping to start over. Trouble is, her money pit is falling to pieces and the only restoration architect for miles is Rob Douglas…her ex-fiancé.

For eight years, Rob has regretted not telling Anjuli why he never answered her letters. Being left at the altar broke his heart, but being used for sex one night in London after the fact nearly drove him to the edge of sanity, and he’ll be damned if he allows Anjuli to wreak havoc on his life again. He’ll restore her manor, all right, and give her taste of her own medicine while he’s at it.

But how long can revenge last when memories of their shared past keep rushing to the surface?

Soon, Rob wants answers. Why did Anjuli leave the international spotlight to become a recluse in the Scottish Borderlands? And why does she refuse to sing? Anjuli wants nothing more than to be left alone with her grief, even as she struggles to keep her sexy fantasies about Rob in check. With gossipy villagers, interfering friends and more secrets between them than notes on a scale, Anjuli and Rob will need to find forgiveness in order to work together, then decide if they’re willing to risk it all on an encore performance.

AUTHOR Bio and Links:
Elise reads, writes and revels in romance, and is never happier than when caught up in a heart-thumping, sweat-your-socks-off tale—hers or somebody else’s. She loves creating stories about flawed characters, people for whom love isn’t simply a question of boy-meets-girl, but a gut wrenching journey of transformation.
