Happy Day! SO glad you to have you here today, Caroline - it has been far too long since we had a natter and catch up :) Really looking forward to finding out what you've been up to and working on - let's get started...
1.
What do you wish men understood about women?
I wish
they understood that our need for time with other women doesn’t mean diminish
our love or enjoyment of our man. I love my husband, but sometimes I need to
just chatter and be silly with other women.
2.
Do you only work on one book at a time?
Ideas are always swirling in my cluttered mind. However, I only
write one book at a time. I might make notes if something comes to me for
another story, but that’s all. I find I write best when I immerse myself in the
book I’m writing.
3.
Who is your favorite fictional couple?
That’s a
hard question, because I’ve loved and saved so many books. One of my favorite
couples is from Loretta Chase’s LORD PERFECT. Bathsheba Wingate (related to the
Dreadful DeLuceys) and Benedict Carsington, Viscount Rathbourne (heir to the
Earl of Hargate) make a fun couple. Ms Chase’s descriptions of their first
meeting are priceless. I admire Loretta Chase’s writing and wish I could write
as well.
4.
Do you have a favorite quote that sums up how you feel about
life?
“Be
the change you want to see in the world.” Ghandi
5.
Do you set daily writing goals? Word count? Number of
chapters? Do you get a chance to write every day?
I
write every day, but I don’t set goals per se. I sometimes divide the WIP into
pages per week and work from that. As a self-published author, my deadlines are
self-imposed. I love that freedom, but it’s easy, then, to goof off. I simply
can’t allow myself to lollygag or I won’t make any royalties. ☺Over the summer
we moved from a rural area to an urban one, plus I had foot surgery then
injured the “good” foot. Those distractions played havoc with my writing. Now
I’m back on track, and I’m excited about my WIP.
6. What do
you like better, Twitter or Facebook? Why?
I prefer Facebook because
it’s more personal. Supposedly, Twitter is best for promotion, but I don’t understand
how. Still, I’m active on Twitter and have a lot of followers. How many of them
read romance? I have no idea. Facebook is addictive, so I have to limit my time
there.
7.
What are you working on now?
The fourth book in my Kincaid series, a western historical romance
titled GABE KINCAID. It’s set in 1888 Texas. All my full-length novels are set
in Texas, and all but one of my novellas are set here. In this one, Gabe
Kincaid is an attorney who hates lies with good reasons. Katie Worthington is
on the run from the men who killed her grandfather and has sought the anonymity
of appearing as a costumed carnival fortune teller. When a brawl breaks out at
her tent and she’s arrested, Gabe is appointed to defend her. She can spin
yarns faster than listeners can sort them. It’s a fun book so far because of
the interaction between mysterious, fun Katie and businesslike Gabe.
8. Tell us
about your latest release and where we can find it
Thank you for asking! THE MOST UNSUITABLE COURTSHIP is book three
of the Kincaid series. It’s available in print and e-book. Here’s the blurb:
Storm Kincaid wants
justice; Rena Dmitriev wants vengeance.
When Storm’s best
friend and the friend’s wife are murdered, Storm secures a temporary
appointment as Federal Marshal so he can capture the killers. He follows them
to twenty one year old Rena’s home, which is in flames when he arrives. She has
survived by following her elderly husband’s strict instructions and watched in
hiding while the men murdered him.
Storm intends to take her to the nearest town where she will be safe.
She can identify the men who killed the person who had been her husband in name
only and like a grandfather to her, and she vows to kill at least one of them.
Whether or not Storm allows her to accompany him, she assures him she will go
after the murderers. She is the
only person alive who can identify the evil foursome whose policy has been to leave
no witnesses. Storm agrees to take her with him. She’ll be safer with him to
protect her than she would riding alone.
As a powerful and
passionate love blossoms, they unite to rescue three orphaned children, fight
the elements, and encounter the killers. Will their love be enough to protect
them?
