Well, that's it...another year almost over!
Where did it go? How was your year? Did you achieve what you set out to do? More? Less?
Professionally, 2013 was a fabulous year for me because I signed a three book contract with Harlequin Superromance and a two book contract with Kensington. There was a time in my life (AKA 2012!!) when I would not have believed that dream possible. Yet, it happened.
So what does this mean for me as I stand on the precipice of 2014??
It means I'll be darn busy!
Fortunately, the time management gods have been very kind to me during the second half of this year and I only have one more full manuscript to deliver to Harlequin. On the other hand, I have BOTH books yet to write for Kensington. DON'T PANIC!!
I started the first of the two Kensington books at the start of December and as I approach Chapter Four things are going along nicely, but as you, my readers know, I never fail to hit a brick wall around the 40,000 word mark so I'm not resting on my laurels...so to speak.
In between this contracted work, I also have the urge to try something different...to add a bit of spice to the my tried and test recipe. Will it work? Improve things? Or will the whole mangled, inedible mess end up in my virtual bin. We'll see!
Now, considering I'm published in contemporary romance, romantic suspense, romantic comedy and Victorian romance, my brain screams, "What on earth do you want to try next, woman??"
Well...the romantic sub-genres hounding my imagination right now are threefold! I have an idea for trio of novellas involving three firefighting brothers, another for a Western full-length novel and a big single title romantic suspense. Will I ever get the time to even start, let alone write, any of these projects during 2014 remains to be seen...but I do love the excitement of knowing, with God's good grace, that I have a whole year ahead of me to find out.
So to celebrate the forthcoming year, I want to give one lucky commenter the chance to win my BUMPER CHRISTMAS GIVEAWAY as a way to say thank you all for your support throughout 2013.
The prize is a tote bag featuring my February Kensington release, The Temptation of Laura, signed paperbacks of Finding Justice AND A Man Like Him as well as a 2014 Affair de Coeur calendar...I'm Miss April ;)

I like urban fantasy the most, because I like the idea of paranormal stuff existing along with the "real world". But I also enjoy contemporary and suspense romance.
ReplyDeleteI like contemporary best as I like stories that I can imagine happening to me or my friends, although I like stories also to be a little larger than life, perhaps with a dash of intrigue or even a hint of the paranormal.
ReplyDeleteI liked contemporary.
