The Next Big Thing Blog Hop...

The Next Big Thing Blog Hop!

I’ve been tagged by the always awesome Emma Chase to join in the Next Big Thing and I’m very excited to be a part of it!
Emma is the author of the romantic comedy novel, Tangled

If anyone isn’t familiar with The Next Big Thing blog hop, I’ll explain:  Basically, it's an author chain that gives you the opportunity to discuss your book, while, at the same time getting the word out about the author who tagged you, and also tagging other authors to join in and keep the chain going. It’s a great way for readers to learn more about the many wonderful stories out there and new soon-to-be favorite authors!

Here are the questions and my answers...

1) What is the working title of your book?

The title of my latest release is The Seduction of Emily. A Victorian romance set in the famous historical UK city of Bath, England.

2) Where did the idea come from for the book?
Bath is only a thirty minute drive from where I live so it's always been a dream of mine to write a series of interlinked books set in the heart of the city as well as the surrounding villages. The Seduction of Emily was inspired by a TV program set in the Victorian era where the hero turned out to be a bad boy turned good. The hero of my book leapt into my head while watching––I knew he would be a confidence trickster seeking vengeance. It was up to me to figure out his target and the woman who would soothe his anger.
3) What genre does your book come under?

Victorian historical romance

4) Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

This is an easy one. I begin plotting all my books by scouring the internet looking for the image that most sums up the character in my head. For Will (my hero) it was Julian McMahon and for Emily (my heroine) I used Megan Fox. Just because EVERYONE looked like this in the late 1800s... ;)
5) What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

I think the tagline Kensington gave the book pretty much sums it up :)

Seduction is a wicked game, and no one plays it better than the devilish Will Samson...

6) Is your book self-published, published by an independent publisher, or represented by an agency?

The Seduction of Emily is published by the wonderful E-Kensington.

7) How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

Four months - and six to finish it entirely.
8) What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

This is a classic Victorian romance with a twist of ongoing suspense so I'm not entirely sure...I love reading authors like British Victorian romance writer Jean Fullerton, as well as US authors Tessa Dare and Elizabeth Hoyt. It's more than likely that I draw inspiration from their wonderful voices!

9) Who or what inspired you to write this book?

See question two!

10) What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

This is the first in a two-part series (so far!) contracted with E-Kensington. The sequel is on my editor's desk as we speak. The heroine of book two is a prostitute who featured in The Seduction of Emily. I love Bath and the rich story ideas the city's history provides. If readers love British history, they will hopefully enjoy getting immersed in the surroundings of a place I know very well.
