1) Who is your favourite author and why? Rachel Brimble, because she is
a sweetheart. :)
LOL!! You naughty, girl! :)
2) When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I think anyone who
has a passion for writing and the written word is a writer. That being said,
the moment I saw my first book cover for Harlequin was very special. I felt
like I’d finally made it as an author. I cried.
3) Describe your writing space?
On which day of the week? Ha ha. I like
to move around. My favorite place to write is a cupcake bakery in my
neighborhood called Bird Bakery. The people there are really nice. It’s owned
by movie actor Armie Hammer and his sweet wife, Elizabeth Chambers. The décor has
a very welcoming French Country feel. When I’m at home, I write at my dining
room table. I actually recently re-did my dining room to have the same homey
feel as Bird Bakery.
4) What are you reading now?
I just returned from a vacation in Rome.
So right now, I’m all about books set in Italy. I’m currently reading Bella
Fortuna by Rosanna Chiofalo.
5) How many books have your written?
I am currently working on my tenth
book. Which is your favourite? My
favorite is UNLEASHING MR. DARCY, which will be released from Harlequin HQN in
January 2014. It’s a fun, modern re-telling of Jane Austen’s Pride &
Prejudice set in the dog show world. It is the book that I was constantly
writing in my head for a year before I actually put anything on paper. I
honestly never thought anyone would want to read it, much less publish it. But
I had to write it because I just couldn’t stop thinking about it. I can’t wait
for it to hit the shelves!
6) What comes first, plot or characters?
Characters. Definitely. I
start with my hero and heroine, put them in an interesting situation and go
from there.
7) Do you ever suffer from writer’s block?
Fortunately, no. At times
I’ve found it challenging to begin a new chapter or scene, so I always try and
stop my writing day mid-chapter or mid-scene. I’ve heard it’s even best to stop
mid-sentence. That way, the next day you can just jump back in.
8) What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
Like most writers, I
love to read! I also love to knit, hang out with my sweet doggies and dance.
I’ve recently started taking belly dance lessons. It’s a blast!
9) Tell us about your latest book?
My latest book is ALASKAN HERO from
Harlequin’s Love Inspired line. It is set in beautiful Alaska and features a
pair of adorable search and rescue puppies-in-training and a hero dressed in a
grizzly bear costume.

10) What’s next
for you? Coming in November, I have another Alaska book coming out from
Harlequin Love Inspired called SLEIGH BELL SWEETHEARTS, about a woman who
unexpectedly inherits a reindeer farm. (There might also be a charming bad boy
ranch hand on the premises.)
