Well, it's finally here!! I am SO, SO happy that I can now officially call myself a Harlequin author. There was a time when I believed that writing for this wonderful publisher was like trying to find the code to a super-secret, highly confidential, 007 type box. What did Harlequin want? What was I doing wrong? Why can't one of the new authors they take on each year be me? Can I even write?
On and on these negative questions gathered momentum...
Coming to the acceptance that I might not belong with Harlequin, I had the idea for a new romantic suspense novel. This would be the first one I had written in almost four years. I wrote feverishly and love the characters, the plot, but most of all, I loved the idea of a series set in my fictional UK seaside town of Templeton Cove.
I sent the book off to my newly acquired agent - she loved it too! Yay! Celebration time!
My agent and I discussed back and forth the publishers we would query - I asked her to try Harlequin Superromance. Even though I thought I'd accepted the fact my work wasn't right for them, something still niggled at me that they were the publisher I was meant to be working with. My agent duly submitted the proposal. Within a few weeks, I received an email asking for revisions - I did what I thought was best for the story, taking into account the detailed suggestions from the Superromance Senior Editor, Wanda Ottewell.
My agent sent back the revisions...
Within two weeks, I was dancing around my patio :) The wonderful, gorgeous email came through one sunny day in May last year. WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTRACT 'FINDING JUSTICE'.
The rest you know - I am still buzzing, still happy and now have another book contracted with Superromance. 'A Man Like Him' will be available in August 2013.
Dreams do happen - I really hope you enjoy my debut novel with Harlequin. Let's PARTY!!!
Finding Justice - Book One in the Templeton Cove series
Old friends, new secrets
Sergeant Cat Forrester lives by her own set of
rules. When her childhood friend is murdered, Cat's world is thrown into chaos.
Especially because Jay Garrett-a man from her past-is a suspect, and he needs
her help to prove he's innocent. After all they once shared, how can she say
no?
The attraction flares between them, and getting
involved with a suspect is a huge risk. But the more time Cat spends with Jay,
the stronger the tug on her heart. He is the same caring, irresistible man she
remembers. Yet she can't let her emotions interfere with the case—solving it is
top priority. But as she digs deeper, she discovers Jay has secrets that may
jeopardize any possible future together.
