I have been running around like a mad woman this afternoon and so I must pass on my huge apologies to Donna for being tardy in posting her interview - loved reading your answers, Donna :) Hope you enjoy your time here - over to you!
Good morning, Rachel. Thanks for having
me here today.
1)
Did you
set any goals for 2013?
Yes.
I want to try to make a few meetings at my local RWA. It’s about 2 hrs away,
and tying up the vehicle for a day is usually tough, but I’m determined to fit
in a few this year.
2)
What is
the best part of the writing process for you?
The
best part for me is the actual writing. I’m not fond of promo, or
fleshing/outlining, or research. I do them, of course, but when I can actually
just sit and type—I am so happy!
3)
The worst
part?
Like
I just said, promo is the worst. lol The time involved is murder on my writing
schedule.
4)
What is
the book you wish you’d written?
Animal
Magnetism by Jill Shalvis. I absolutely love her characters and their diverse
background and personalities. Yet, they fit so well. Plus, I’m a sucker for a
‘tortured’ military hero!
5)
Favourite
author/s & book/s?
Anything
from Jill Shalvis. Love ‘Lucky at Love’ from her Lucky Harbor series, and of
course, ‘Animal Magnetism’ from her Animal Magnetism series. She writes
humorous, hot and sexy stories with wonderful alpha males.
6)
Tell us
about your latest release?
My
latest release is my first ever self published novel. CAPTIVE HERO is the first
novel in my Time-shift Heroes
Series. This is a contemporary timeshift where the hero is brought back to
present day. My heroine is a test pilot who accidentally flies back to WWII and
inadvertently changes history. In order to keep the timeline safe, she kidnaps
the hero and brings him to our time.
7)
Tease us
with a blurb/short except
“Captain!”
He
jumped, and reluctantly ripped his gaze from her mind-drugging curves. “What?”
“I
want my clothes. Now.”
She
reached for a pile. But he was quicker. He grabbed her wrist, and a damn
fission shot through his body again. What the hell? She yanked free and stepped
back.
Ignoring
the pounding in his veins—and both heads—he slowly rose to his feet,
positioning himself between her and the table. Hell if he’d allow her to take
anything until he knew it was safe.
“I’m
not done yet.”
“Oh,
for crying out loud.” She groaned. “It’s just my clothes.”
His
brows shot up. “Really?” He reached behind him for the strange little packet of
pills he’d found. “Then where the hell do you wear these?”
A
small smile tugged at her lips, and son-of-a-bitch, a spot of color seeped into
her cheeks. She was blushing. Why was she blushing? Spies don’t blush. Do they?
“You
don’t wear them. Y-you take them.”
He
waved the packet. “No shit.” What did she think, he was an idiot? His heart
hammered and he wondered just what she’d planned on doing with the pills. He
stared hard at his blushing abductor, but spoke soft. “You plan on drugging me,
Samantha?”
Amusement
flittered through her remarkable eyes. “No. Not unless you’ve grown a pair of
ovaries.”
There
wasn’t anything funny about…Wait? Ovaries? He glanced at the pills.
“They’re
my birth control pills, Mitch. Give me them.” She stepped closer and reached
for the packet.
Birth
control what? He held the pills out of her reach and frowned
down. “Control birth?” Shit. “Are you pregnant?” Cripes, he hoped not.
Not after the way he manhandled her today.
“No!”
She shook her head, her shoulders rounding in exasperation. “I’m not pregnant.
The pills prevent pregnancy.”
Was
that even possible? Maybe. He wouldn’t put anything past the Germans.
He
folded his arms across his chest, his body heating before he even got the words
out. “So, you are planning to seduce me.”
“What?
Oh for the love of…” Her mouth clamped shut, eyes glittered and body stiffened.
“If you must know, I need the hormone therapy to help with cysts. I have to
take one pill a day at the same time every day, and I’ll need one first thing
in the morning. Now, give me my damn pills!”
Before
he could react, she lunged for the packet and gripped the bottom edge. Damn,
she was fast. He pulled while she tugged, and he tried desperately to ignore
the soft curves brushing his body or the mouthful of wet hair tickling his
face. God, she smells great. More vanilla. He inhaled and a layer
of warmth increased the heat already throbbing inside. Touching her was out of
the question. He’d just have to keep twisting and lifting.
Several
more seconds of sweet torture and he finally got the upper hand. Success. He
ripped the pills from her grasp.
“Dammit,
Captain,” she growled, her warm breath hitting his chin.
Didn’t
the woman know how to give up? Apparently not. She continued her delicious
assault, pressing against him, reaching, trying to crawl up his body for the
damn packet. Cripes. She was potent.
And
naked.
All
the struggling loosened the towel which softly thudded on to his right foot.
“Shit!”
She released him and bent down to grab the wayward towel, brushing his
throbbing body along the way.
He
went still. Very still. He didn’t even dare to breathe. But he did look. Oh,
hell yeah, he looked.

8)
What is
your favourite attribute of the hero and heroine?
I
love how Mitch remains strong during his ‘abduction’ and man enough to admit
when he was wrong.
As
for Samantha, again, I’d have to say her strength throughout all she has to
deal with because of her flight back in time. I can’t say too much without
giving things away.
9)
What’s
next?
I
have several ‘coals’ in the fire. lol
The second book FUTURE HERO in this series is Maria’s book. She’s
Samantha’s flight partner. She meets her hero up at the infamous cabin where
Sam had first taken Mitch. I’m also finishing up LOCKE AND LOAD, the first book
in my romantic suspense series—Dangerous Curves. Each book in this series will
feature a female agent from a government funded agency working out of D.C. I
hope to have it out this spring. And finally, I am also working on COWBOY DADDY
SQUARED the sequel to COWBOY-SEXY for The Wild Rose Press. This is Brett’s
book. If you’ve read Cowboy-Sexy then you know the hero’s practical joke
playing twin has Operation Payback on his plate.
10)
Tell me
where you write?
I
actually write in my bedroom on a laptop.
11)
Where
would you like your career to be in 5 years?
I
also write screenplays so I’d love to have a movie in theaters and a book on
the best sellers list!

Thanks for a great interview, Rachel, and for having me here today!
ReplyDeleteLoved the interview! Very tantalizing excerpt, Donna. I'm not entirely sure who is the abductor, as Mitch seems entirely control of the situation and Samantha is ... well, naked. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Angel!
ReplyDeleteExactly! lol Samantha had to leave the 'sedated' hero at the cabin to sneak back to base. When she finally came back a few days later, he 'captured' her, thinking she was a German spy. He didn't believe her and she had to constantly remind herself to go easy on him because he was plucked from his the world he knew.
It was a ton of fun to write!
