Blurb
A doctor... A nurse... An indiscretion...
Paul Valverde is stretched to the limit, caring for
an elderly relative while running a business and maintaining a full-time
medical practice at St. Stephen's Hospital--with no time for a relationship.
RN Carrington Hanover leaves her money-hungry
fiance at the altar and moves on to a new job at St. Stephen's Hospital in Los
Angeles. The next man in her life must love her, not her money.
All work and no play has made Paul an unfulfilled
man, and the resurrected redheaded crush from his youth is driving him to
distraction. Can their complicated past become untangled by their newfound
attraction--or will their love be doomed by mistrust and long-held resentment?
Excerpt:
So far, today had been a “why not”
kind of day. Why let one little comment from Paul's grandfather upset her.
Except it had. Deeply. She added it to the battle she waged over trusting Paul
and his intentions. Her shoulders were tense and she took a deep breath, trying
to relax.
one. Up until a few minutes ago
she’d been happier than she could remember in ages. Maybe she needed to learn
to live for the moment more often.
Paul stepped behind her and wrapped
his arms around her waist. He was solely responsible for this seesaw of
emotions keeping her on guard, off balance, and confused. When she leaned
back, a hard wall of heat embraced her from head to ankles. He nuzzled her hair
and breathed over her ear, starting a dance of chills down her neck. Even
upset, she couldn’t resist him.
She turned into Paul’s chest,
only then realizing that the balcony led directly into his bedroom, and the
sliding glass doors were wide open displaying his king-sized bed. The
covers were pulled down.
“I’ve waited all day to do this,” he
whispered, brushing his lips across hers.
