Let's go!
LOL! I wish I had one! My husband and I own a business, so
that takes up a lot of time. I
usually get most of my writing done on the weekends when my son has friends
over or he is over at someone’s house.
2)
Which author/s inspire you to
write? There are so many. Patricia Cornwell. I love, love, love John Sandford. David Baldacci. JR Ward. And also a few less known idie writers. I don’t have a specific genre I read,
so I guess you could say a really good book is what inspires me.
3)
Which is your favorite romance
subgenre to read? To write? I love
paranormal romance and fantasy romance.
I have recently been introduced to historical romance and period pieces
as well, and some of those are fun to read. As far as writing, I love fantasy/paranormal. I love the freedom it gives me as an
author to stretch and twist reality.
4)
How do you deal with
criticism/rejection? Wine. J
I kid on that
answer. Sort of. Criticism and rejection hurts, and when
it happens, I remind myself that I can’t please everyone all the time. If I try to, then I lose at little bit
of myself, as well as a bit of my character’s story.
5)
What do you expect from an
editor? I have been very lucky
with my editor. She fixes all
those annoying grammatical/spelling/punctuation issues, but she also will look
at the story and tell me what needs more development and what works and what
doesn’t.
6)
Tell me about your latest
release.
Finding My Faith is the second book in the Six Savior series. Faith grew up in a small northern
Arizona town. Yearning for more out of her life, she moves to Phoenix, Arizona
at the age of twenty-three where she is kidnapped and almost killed. Rayner has
a special ability, one that weighs on him like a curse. He can see spirits
trapped in between life and their final resting place. Because he can’t do much
to help them, he studiously ignores them. He concentrates, instead, on working
with his fellow warriors to right the wrongs caused by the evil criminals from
his home planet. When Rayner sees Faith in her spirit form while investigating
a lead in Phoenix, his attraction to her is immediate, yet he follows his own
personal code and ignores her cry for attention. When he realizes that she may
be a stepping stone to getting him home to his own universe, he engages Faith
and begins to use her as a means to an end: going home. As the attraction grows
stronger, Rayner finds himself breaking all sorts of self-set rules, as well as
the code of ethics set by him and his fellow warriors. When Faith nears death,
Rayner realizes that he must do everything in his power to save her, because if
he doesn’t, he may just lose himself.
7)
Which is your favorite
character in the book? Why?
This is a tough question for me because
I love all my Warriors, and I really like Faith. Rayner is a little more dialed down than the other Warriors,
which was fun and interesting to write.
Faith was also fun as she is so carefree. In the peripheral there are the other Warriors, who are each
so unique. If I had to choose one
of them, I would pick Rayner. I
love that he is a really calm and quiet guy by nature, until he gets mixed up
with Faith, and “calm” and “quiet” become words he doesn’t know the meaning of.
9) What are you
working on right now?
Right
now I am working on the third installment of the Six Saviors series. It will center around the Warrior
Hudson.
10) Your biggest
piece of advice to aspiring novelists?
If you’ll indulge me, I have a couple pieces of advice. J If you self-publish,
please don’t publish anything without having it heavily edited by a
professional. Also realize that
writing the book is the easy part.
The marketing is what takes the work, whether you self-publish or go
with a publisher! And lastly, keep
writing!

BLURB:
Growing up in a small Northern
Arizona town, Faith Cloudfoot’s life was spent playing in the forests
surrounding her house under the protective eyes of her father, and learning
about the legends of her Native American heritage. Yearning for more out of her

kidnapped and almost killed.

EXCERPT
“You're real.”
It was barely a whisper, but Rayner
heard it. His heart beat even
faster, and he slowly opened his eyes.
Faith was looking at him.
“Yes,” he whispered back.
“Your eyes...” her voice drifted
off, and she closed her eyes for a moment as if she were recalling something,
then opened them again.
She smiled slightly and reached for
his hand. “My wise warrior saved
me.”
He took it and held the delicate
bones in his big paw. Energy
ripped through him as their palms touched. After the initial jolt, he felt a
peace overcome every fiber of his being.
It slowed his heart and loosened his muscles. The peace that flowed through him was an energy all onto
itself.
They stared at each other for a
moment, then Faith shut her eyes.
Rayner studied her face. In
a nutshell, she took his breath away.
She was prettier in the flesh than she had been as a ghost. He watched her chest rise and fall with
each breath.
“We have to get out of here,
Rayner,” Hudson said in a low voice.
Rayner nodded, let go of Faith's
hand and began to stand up.
Faith's eyes flew open and she tried
to sit up, panic raced across her face.
“No!” she said, “please don't leave me!”
Rayner took her hand again and got
back down on his knees. “Faith,
relax. I'm not going anywhere
without you. You're safe now.”
He met her eyes, and for a long
moment he knew she was deciding whether he could be trusted. He gave her hand a gentle squeeze and
said, “I promise.”

I think that a writer must write what they love. it always shows in their stories.

Thank you for having me today, Rachel! The tour has been great and has put me in touch with some amazing people, like Mel, MomJane and Vidya who have followed the tour. Thank you for the compliment on the picture - yes, I'm a pretty happy person :)
ReplyDeleteIf anyone has any questions I'll be checking back, so please leave them in the comments.
I so agree with you about an editor. As a reader and a librarian, nothing turns me off more when reading than a poorly proofread/edited book. Writers have to invest in professional editing!
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine,
DeleteYes, they do. If there are any self-pub writers out there looking for an editor, go to Elance.com and take a look around. You will find professional editors charging anywhere from $200 - $1200 for a couple reviews of a 60-80K story. It is so important because no matter how many times a writer looks at a MS, they are going to miss many, many things.
Thanks for stopping by!
