Did you
set any goals for 2014?
I’m
rubbish at setting myself goals. I think it was mainly to get book 2 finished
and over to my publisher within in my contract. Which I did!
2) How long does it take you to write a
50,000-60,000 word manuscript?
Actually, it’s been a while
since I’ve written one, as both book 1 (Plus One is a Lucky Number) and book 2
(One Fine Day) were written a couple of years ago. One Fine Day did need some
more work done to it to keep up the pace and add to the story, so I would say it
has probably taken a good year to get right. It does stand around 90,000 words
though.

Fine Day blurb:
Just a boy standing in front of a girl…
Steve Mason returns from Hollywood after 15 years to catch up with
his sister, Ruby. He’s miserable because the woman he was planning on marrying
has dumped him.
He’s now worried that with his A-list celebrity status he won’t
find a woman who genuinely loves him. Ruby devises a plan to disguise Steve, so
that he is unrecognisable as the famous Hollywood actor, in a hope to help him
find true love. It worked for Clark Kent, right?
As Steve searches for his not-so-perfect woman
and has a taste of normality, his relationship develops with his sister. But
will he find the right woman before he has to head back to his real life in
Hollywood?

Tell us
about a new author you’ve recently discovered
I’m
not a huge reader of historicals, (it’s not that I don’t like them, I just tend
to read more contemporary romances) but recently I read fellow Harper Impulse author, Caroline Storer’s The Roman. It was fabulous, giving me a real flavor of Roman Italy and
charioteers, plus a hot romance.

Name two
romances you’ve read more than once
You
know, I don’t think I have read two romance more than once. I want to, but my
bookshelf and kindle are so full of books I haven’t read yet, that I can’t
justify reading a book twice. I’ve re-read the Harry Potter’s to my son. And
The Hobbit. But no romances. I would like to read Sue Moorcroft’s Starting Over
again at some point, and possibly Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë.

Tell us
about your first car
It
was a light blue Fiat 127 and it was called the tent because the roof lining
kept coming down, and so made my passengers (my teenage friends) feel like they
were in a tent rather than a car. It’s other name was Penny as in Penny the
Passion Wagon… not that any passion happened in that car lol!

Tell us
something you’ve lied about?
I’m
a big believer in honesty is the best policy, plus I am a terrible liar. I
think my biggest lie so far is to my kids about Santa and the Tooth Fairy.
Otherwise, I can’t think of any other lies… honest.
Oh,
when working at Thorpe Park, eons ago, when I was a teenager, we used to lie
that someone famous was in the park. We would talk amongst ourselves very
loudly so the general public would overhear us and shoot off to that area of
the park in the hope to find a superstar. Does that count?

Kissing
in public? Yes or no?
Yes,
within reason… Obviously if you’re getting to the stage that you need a room,
then get a room! Ha ha!
