Welcome Whiskey Creek Press author, Elaine Cantrell...

1.Did you set any goals for 2014? Taking Blue 52 on a blog tour was my number one writing goal, and I’m doing that now. I also want to finish the revisions to book 3 in my Lovinggood series. Return Engagement is the first book, Blue 52 is second, and the third one doesn’t have a name yet. I also have two manuscripts ready to send out, but I haven’t done that yet.

2.How long does it take you to write a 50,000-60,000 word manuscript? Oh, I can knock one out in six weeks, but revising takes six months or more.

4.Tell us about a new author you’ve recently discovered. I’ve really enjoyed Julianne MacLean’s work. My daughter-in-law read some of her books and recommended them to me. I just finished The Color of Heaven which I liked very much.

5.Name two romances you’ve read more than once. The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons. I loved that book! I’ve also read Twilight more than once.

6.Tell us about your first car. It was awesome! It was an old Plymouth Fury III. They don’t make cars like that now. It was so big it felt like you were sitting on your sofa, and it rode very smoothly. It was built so solidly I think you could have hit a wall and not dented it. Of course, it drank a lot of gas too.

7.Tell us something you’ve lied about? I’ve never told a lie.  (LOL. I just told one.)

Kissing in public? Yes or no? Icky poo. No.

BLURB:

"First Lady Kills President Lovinggood"
December 29, 2018

Thirty years later Hank Lovinggood embarks on a quest to prove his mother's innocence and punish the killers who took his family from him. Together Hank and lovely physicist Kathryn Sinclair confront an implacable, twisted, merciless enemy who'll do whatever it takes to hide the truth forever.

EXCERPT

He handed the coffee to Dr. Sinclair and got a good look at her legs in the process. Nice. She wore a well-cut, red suit that looked expensive. He liked her short little skirt, but the neckline of the jacket didn’t plunge quite enough.

Hank flushed. He was no hormone-riddled teenager. The woman hadn’t come here for him to ogle her. “My secretary told me that you wanted to talk to me about a crime,” he said as he seated himself behind his desk, unconsciously smoothing his tie and sitting up straight.

“That’s right, I do.” She didn’t wait for him to prompt her to tell her story. “The crime was committed a long time ago, but there’s no statute of limitations on murder, right?”

Hank nodded. “You want to talk to me about a murder?”

“Oh, yes. A man and his wife were brutally murdered, and the murderers framed the wife to take the blame.” Dr. Sinclair paused to take a sip of her coffee. “Their names were Lovinggood.”

The words hit him hard, right in his gut. “Tell me who you really are.”

“I’m exactly who I told you I am. My name is Dr. Kathryn Sinclair. I work for the Curtis Corporation.”

Hank leaned forward and tried to make sense of this thing. “Bill Curtis? That corporation?”

“That’s right.”

“Are you here as a representative of the Curtis Corporation?”

“Yes, I am.”

All kinds of wild suppositions flashed through Hank’s mind. Joan had only given him the secret files last night. Did Dr. Sinclair’s visit have anything to do with the files? If so, his uncle Scott had truly found something.

He whipped his emotions back in line. If he wanted to solve his parents’ murders, he couldn’t allow sentiment, imagination, or sexual attraction to get in the way. How clever of Curtis to send a beautiful woman to get his attention. It had worked too, but Curtis needn’t have bothered. He’d have listened to anyone who claimed to have information about his parents. “So, what do you know about my parents’ deaths, Dr. Sinclair?”

  2. Readers, Rachel wanted to know what romances I've read twice, and my answer was The Bronze Horseman and Twilight. What about you? What have you read twice?

  4. I'm quite the opposite from gemiinii: I have favorites that are over 20 years old that, when the odd mood strikes, I will go back and reread. I keep a complete physical bookshelf for all my "timeless keepers" while I have over 3000 books on my kindle, most of which are read 'em and toss 'em's. My list of rereads would be looong lol.

    1. I sent Goddess Fish 7 excerpts, but most people chose the same one. I'm glad to see something different.
