Welcome paranormal romance writer, Shirley Kennedy...

I am pleased to welcome fellow agency author, Shirley Kennedy to my blog today - Hi, Shirley! Great to have you here and to be a part of your ongoing tour. Wishing you all the best with the tour and those all-important sales. Let's get started with the questions...

1.            What do you wish men understood about women?

That we’re happy about women’s liberation (I know I am) but we like the little niceties, too. These days I know many women disagree, but I still like to have the gentleman open the door for me and let me first out of the elevator. I wouldn’t expect him to pay for everything, though. That’s not fair.

2.            Do you only work on one book at a time?

Yes, that’s all my brain can handle. I don’t even think about the next book until the one I’m working on is done. I’ve heard Stephen King keeps several books going at once. That’s awesome.

3.            Who is your favorite fictional couple?

Scarlet O’Hara & Rhett Butler. Funny how my attitude has changed over the years. When  I first read Gone with the Wind, I was in my early teens. I was absolutely stricken when Rhett uttered those unforgettable words, “I don’t give a damn,” and walked out. I so hoped she would get him back!  Since then, I’ve read the book several times, with increasing maturity. The last time I read it, I thought, good for you, Rhett, she got what she deserved.

4.            Do you have a favorite quote that sums up how you feel about life?

I’m a thirteen-year Stage IIIA breast cancer survivor. Life is full of little annoyances, but when they happen I have my own favorite quote:  “I’m just glad I’m still here.”

5.            Do you set daily writing goals? Word count? Number of chapters? Do you get a chance to write every day?

I take the number of words I intend the book to be. For instance, my traditional Regencies ran around 75,000 words. I divide by the number of days until the deadline, minus Saturday and Sunday. That gives me the number of words I should write each day, each week. This simple word count system works for me. I keep track on an index card and haven’t missed a deadline yet.

6.            What do you like better, Twitter or Facebook? Why?

My Facebook page can be found at https://www.facebook.com/shirley.kennedy.52    I much prefer it to my twitter account, @ladyk360. God knows I’ve tried, but I don’t use it much.  However, I keep trying to get enthused. The whole world is tweeting and I must keep up!

 7.            What are you working on now?

I just finished a wagon train saga titled Wagon Train Cinderella and sent it to my agent. After that, I plan to rewrite a 140,000-word story I wrote fifteen years ago about a lost dog (and never published). It will need a lot of updating. Cells instead of pay phones, remotes instead of car keys, flat screens, chip implants for pets, etc. The fun part is, I don’t remember the plot, so it’ll seem like I’m reading someone else’s book.

8.            Tell us about your latest release and where we can find it

It’s Deadly Gamble, of course. I hope you will read and enjoy it.
