Welcome Wild Rose Press author, Charlotte Copper...

Hi Charlotte, welcome to my site! I am excited to get to know more about you and your writing, and to be a part of your ongoing tour. Who was your cover artist? Great cover. The Wild Rose Press have some amazing artists...I loved all my covers with them :)

Okay, on with the questions!

1)   When and why did you decide you wanted to be a published author?

I used to write stories in my head while I was driving to and from work, and then I started putting them to paper.  I had about 4 or 5 novellas written when I actually started to think “hey, I wonder if I can get these published?” I didn’t think it was actually possible to find someone to publish them because they were so short, but then a few years ago I discovered Wild Rose Press, their wonderful authors (“Roses”) and their novella length books (“rosettes”), and I decided to give it a try.

2)   What is the best and worse thing you have learned from an editor/agent?

Worst…One success does not guarantee a second.  I recently heard back that my second submission had a number of “issues” and therefore needs a lot of rework before I submit again. That was tough to handle because you get so close to the stories you write, and of course, I thought it was ready.
The Best thing I learned, however, is that I can do it, and therefore I won’t let it get me down.

3)   Favourite author/s?

I love Kelley Armstrong and her Otherworld series. I originally picked her book up because she is a Canadian author, and then when I joined my local writing group (Toronto Romance Writers) and found out she was a member, it was like meeting a t.v. star. What’s even more impressive is she is very approachable and helpful when she is at a meeting.

4)   What is your typical day?

I’d love to say I spend it writing, but alas I squeeze writing in on weekends mostly. I have a full time job with a major computer company. I just celebrated 25 years with them in May. I work from home though, and I love it! Once I’m finished with work, I’m usually rushing to run errands and make dinner, and then take my daughter to volleyball practice.

5)   Share your blurb or short excerpt from your latest release with us

“Hey,” Oz said as he came around the corner with the sheriff. The officer continued on his way to the nurses’ desk.
The big biker was a comical sight—too-short medical pants, motorcycle boots, bandaged ribs, and a leather jacket. She bit her lip to hide her laughter.
“Thanks for the sympathy,” he said as he looked down at himself. “It’s either these or back to my briefs. I don’t think the sheriff would like me to walk around in those. How about you?”
Angela felt her cheeks grow warm. She dropped the magazine back on the table and stood up.
“You look fine. No one else will laugh. The bandages will make people feel sorry for you, even if the pants don’t.” She bit back another laugh.
“So, what are you still doing here?”
She had asked herself that same question half a dozen times in the last hour. She knew nothing of the giant man whose body suggested a rough and dangerous life, but she had always found it unfair that people misjudged her brother Bobby. She was not about to do the same. Yes, Oz might look dangerous, and his job might be dangerous, but that didn’t mean the man himself was a threat. And something about him intrigued her.

6)   Who would you cast to play your hero & heroine in a movie?
There aren’t too many big, bad-ass, bald actors out there, but luckily hair can be shaved and grows back, so I’d go with Chris Hemsworth and Piper Perabo. (Chris would be the one needing to shave!)

7)   Did you plan this book? Or write it as it came?
I’m not much of a planner when it comes to my writing, I just go with the flow.

8)   What surprised you the most when you became a published?
How much work there is to do after writing the book.  Even for a small e-novella, you need to do a lot of work to get your name out there.  That includes participating in other author blogs such as this, for which I am extremely grateful!!

9)   Do you have a dedicated writing space? What does it look like?
In addition to my own daughter, I have to part-time step daughters. Since they aren’t with us most of the time, I use their bedroom as my office. Because I work from home and spend so much time in there, I like to sit on my bed with my laptop to write.

10)                   What’s next for you?
Well, now I need to decide whether I take the recently rejected book and re-work it, or whether I finish one of my other projects.
