Welcome Australian romance writer, Margaret Tanner...

Hi Margaret! Great to have you here so we can catch up :) I met Margaret online many years ago when I started writing for The Wild Rose Press. Friendly and supportive, I have followed Margaret's writing with keen interest ever since. Can't wait to hear what she's been up to and what we can look forward to :)

On with the questions!

1.    What is your writing routine?

I don’t really have one. I write whenever I can grab a spare moment. I have written on a train going to work. I find I write better in the mornings or late at night.

2.    Which is your favorite romance subgenre to read? To write?

I love reading historical romance and that is probably why I love writing historical romance.

3.    What do you expect from an editor?

I am hopeless when it comes to punctuation, grammar fairly ordinary too, so I like an editor who can fix these things to a high standard for me, and I do like an editor who is flexible and who I can discuss things with.

4.    What are you working on right now?

I was putting the finishing touches to a novel with a title of Seducing Melanie.  It is set in the 1850’s on the Australian goldfields, but I have put this to one side as I want to concentrate on promoting, A Rose In No-Man’s Land, which is my latest release from The Wild Rose Press. It is set against a background of the Great War.

5.    Your biggest piece of advice to aspiring novelists?

Never give up on your dream of publication, no matter how many rejections you receive.

6.         Tease us with a blurb or short excerpt.

Sister Amy Smithfield is carrying on her family’s military tradition in the only way she can, as an Australian Army nurse. Dedicated to her calling, she has sworn off interest in men for the duration of the Great War in Europe . When she literally runs into Mark Tremayne, an English captain in the Australian army, her real struggle begins.
Mark has his own reasons for keeping any relationship with the opposite sex in the casual mode, and he fights to deny his attraction to the petite blonde nurse who stirs his senses beyond the ordinary.
Their battle against love continues from Australia to the Mediterranean to France . When Amy is captured by German soldiers, Mark realizes how much she means to him — but can he overcome pride and find Amy after his jealous anger pushes her away?

    7.  What was your favorite subject in school and why?

History. Because I love everything historical.

8.    What is your favorite dessert?

Lemon cheese cake.

9.    High heels, sneakers or flip flops?

Sneakers

10. Where can readers find you?

Thanks, it is a story that is close to my heart. As an unpublished manuscript it won 1st prize in a competition a few years back.

  12. Great interview, Margaret! I've read and loved all your books, but my favorite is A Rose in No-Man's Land. It was so vivid and so realistic that I could almost smell the scenes. Sounds strange I know, but that's how it was for me.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who hasn't read it yet.
