Secrets of an Aztec Temple
by Paty Jager

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Revenge is not always sweet…
Isabella Mumphrey can’t leave a puzzle alone. This time she attempts to use her anthropology knowledge to uncover who is stealing priceless artifacts from an Aztec Temple in Mexico City. The discovery will certainly prove her worth to the World Intelligence Agency.
Tino Costantine is in Mexico City, too. He has infiltrated a drug lord’s organization to find enough evidence to not only prove the man’s illegal activities, but to bring him down for numerous deaths. Namely those of Tino’s family.
But when the love of his life, Isabella, strolls into his enemy’s home, Tino’s challenged by the choice of saving her or fulfilling his revenge.
EXCERPT:
 Excerpt Two
“No, they are recent acquisitions.” His softly spoken words drew Isabella’s attention from the stone to the man. “You are a remarkable young woman that you could pick out this stone from all the others in the room and know it is something exceptional.” He again studied her, making her uncomfortable, much as she had all through school when teachers realized her intelligence was beyond their knowledge and the other students considered her a freak.
He tapped an index finger against his lips and continued studying her, making her even more nervous. “You have a gift. One I wish to use.” He turned her from the stone and started back across the room.
That’s when she noticed Cezar standing inside the door. When he’d escorted her to Garza’s home he’d said little but sent her leering smiles when he’d caught her studying him. He was a few inches taller and broader than Tino with the same Latino facial features. Only where Tino was smooth skinned with classic contours to his face and dark smoldering eyes, Cezar had a pockmarked face, scar below one ear, and dark angry eyes.
“Cezar, tell Anarosa to prepare refreshments for myself and my guest.” Garza placed a hand on Isabella’s back, ushering her out of the room, back into the atrium, and around the staircase to what appeared to be a library.
Profesora Isabella, I have a proposition for you.” Señor Graza closed the library door locking them in and turned toward her. The glint of greed in his eyes gave Isabella her first glimpse of the man Tino sought to bring down.
  6. Sounds great! How do you come up with the names for your characters?
    1. Hi Gala, Sometimes the name comes to me before the character fully emerges and sometimes as with the case of Tino, I search name databases for the nationality I've given my character. As for Isabella, I pictured her in my mind and the name just popped out! Thanks for asking!
  7. Did you visit Mexico City or the ruins?
    1. Lyra, No, I didn't get to visit in person. My husband didn't think it was a good idea for me to be down there considering all the drug problems that are going on. I used accounts by other who had been there, youtube videos, and the sites of the temple and museum. I wanted to go and used every power of persuasion I had but in the end my husband's comment that he wanted me safe, made me stay.
    1. Hi Hope. I've always been an avid reader and enjoyed writing stories for my own pleasure and to share with friends and family. It wasn't until I was an adult, remembering some of the responses I'd received to my writing, that I took it upon myself to learn more about the craft and start writing to be published.
    1. Hello Ellie! Wow I am really poor at knowing actors and actresses. I don't watch a lot of the new movies. But I'm think Ann Hathaway as the heroine and I don't know of any Latino leading men. Do you? I'm thinking someone like a young Antonio Banderas. I listened to his voice on movies to get the feel for Tino's speech.
