Welcome Carina Press author, Stacy Gail...

Hi, Stacy and welcome to my blog! So happy to have a Carina Press author here  because I have heard so many great things about them and would love you to share your editing experience :) I have to say your cover model reminds me very much of Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft, LOL!

Okay, let's get started...

1)    What is your writing routine?
SG:  If I don’t have at least a thousand words done in the morning, I’m a cranky, cranky girl. >:(  Also, when I’m trying to get through a first draft, I usually do one-hour sprints with fellow writers, and we all sort of drag each other across the finish line.

2)    Which author/s inspire you to write?
SG: I will ALWAYS be inspired by JK Rowling.  I know, that’s weird, coming from a romance writer.  But it’s how she writes that inspires me.  If I can tell a tale half as well as she can, I consider myself incredibly lucky.

3)    Which is your favorite romance subgenre to read? To write?
SG: Don’t hate me, but I’m just so wishy-washy.  My favorite romance subgenre to read might be the cowboy contemporary… or science fiction.  Maybe paranormal.  Ugh.  As for my favorite genre to write, that usually changes too.  Right now I’m writing paranormal, so, um… yup! That’s my favorite. :P

4)    How do you deal with criticism/rejection?
SG: I come from the world of competitive figure skating. Since I was eight, I’ve been dealing with judges, audiences and critiques, so it doesn’t really freak me out.  Though between you and me, I think I might be very lucky to have had that early-life exposure to having your work judged, now that I’m a writer. ;)

5)    What do you expect from an editor?
SG:  To smack me around if I do something stupid! Seriously, I want them to be as hard on me as possible.  How hard?  Like wearing-black-Latex-and-carrying-a-whip kind of hard.  I can take it.  I want the same thing they do—to produce the best story possible.
6)    Tell me about your latest release
SG: *squeals* I’m so excited!  SAVAGE ANGEL is the 2nd book in a four-book series called The Earth Angels, released by Carina Press.  The heroine, Sara Savitch, is part of the Nephilim, an angel-human hybrid race that was supposed to be wiped out in the Great Flood (but since Goliath was descended from the Nephilim, from a mythological standpoint a few obviously survived;) ).  Sara is the perfect bodyguard; from martial arts to weaponry, she’s an expert at it all.  The one thing she’s not an expert at? Men.  She’s hopelessly awkward with Gideon Mandeville, who’s got issues of his own.  But when a serial killer with a hint of demon around him appears, these two have to work together to make sure another death doesn’t happen.

7)    Which is your favorite character in the book?  Why?
SG: Oh, that’s a toughie.  Probably Sara.  A 5-star review came up recently that said Sara really steals the show—so brilliant in so many ways, and so awkward in her romantic relationship with Gideon.  She seems so tough, but she’s as vulnerable as the rest of us when it comes to love.

8)    What are you working on right now?
SG: Please join me in a celebratory dance—I just turned in the fourth and final book in The Earth Angels series, DANGEROUS ANGEL! *dances*  Also, I just found the third book, WOUNDED ANGEL, has gone up for pre-order on Amazon.  Next up to be written is a holiday romance, a contemporary romance, and finishing up a futuristic romance trilogy. *whew*

9) Your biggest piece of advice to aspiring novelists?
SG:  Don’t give up!

10) Where can readers find you?
SG:  Thanks for asking! Feel free to check my latest news on:

BLURB:

Book two in The Earth Angels

Feel nothing. Sara Savitch's personal mantra has been hard to live by ever since her torrid one-night stand with army doctor Gideon Mandeville. Descended from the Seraphim, angels known as heaven's soldiers, Sara may be an expert fighter, but she's an amateur when it comes to relationships.

Physically unharmed, but still battle-scarred, Gideon has returned to Dallas in the hopes of regaining his faith in humanity—and in himself. Instead he's walked into a nightmare. His father is on a serial killer's hit list, and has hired a personal bodyguard—the very woman who has haunted Gideon's dreams for a year.

As Sara works to build an impenetrable fortress around her client, she yearns to tear down the one around Gideon's heart. With his bitter rejection of warriors, will he ever be able to accept her true nature? Sara must find a way to trust Gideon with her secret as the killer closes in…

EXCERPT:

“Let’s make this quick,” she announced without preamble, heading over to the desk and gesturing an invitation toward the chairs on the opposite side of it. “I have a meeting waiting for me, along with about a fifty other things that need to get done before noon. And in future, I’d appreciate it if you would call and make an appointment the next time you want a face-to-face.”

“An appointment? For me?” Refusing to even look at the chairs she’d indicated, Gideon kept his distance and stayed by the windows, his expression so remote he looked as unapproachable as the moon. “Do you insist all your lovers do that, or is it just me?”

She hoped her swift intake of breath was something only she heard. “You’ve made it apparent we don’t have that kind of relationship and after yesterday, I’m forced to agree with you. You’re not my lover, or boyfriend, or even acquaintance. We’re strangers, and I have no problem keeping it that way.”

“Except for the small fact that strangers don’t usually have mind-blowing sex up against the garage wall, do they?”

Her fingers curled into her palms, and she wondered if her face looked as neon-red as it felt. “And here I was, thinking you’d forgotten about that.”

“Something that hot is hard to forget.”

AUTHOR Bio and Links:

A competitive figure skater from the age of eight, Stacy Gail began writing stories in between events to pass the time. By the age of fourteen, she told her parents she was either going to be a figure skating coach who was also a published romance writer, or a romance writer who was also a skating pro. Now with a day job of playing on the ice with her students, and writing everything from steampunk to cyberpunk, contemporary to paranormal at night, both dreams have come true.

  1. I love that you love to read and write all types of romance subgenres. I totally agree. I think that is the best part of romance is that there are so many different directions you can take it, why limit yourself
