Welcome fellow Wild Rose Press author, Rolynn Anderson!

So happy to welcome you here today, Rolynn! I don't think we've spoken very much through the Wild Rose Press loops so I'm glad to have the chance to share your new release with my readers via my blog. I love your cover! Who was the cover artist? And of course, the Scottie dog is gorgeous - can't wait to hear more about how he shows up in your story :)

Anyway, enough of my chat - over to you!

A STUDY IN LIGHT AND DARK
 in FADEOUT by Rolynn Anderson

We writers learned long ago the importance of inserting elements of contrast in our novels.  We vary pace, use characters as foils, change up settings, tension and diction.  The more we write, the better we get at manipulating these factors in order to keep readers firmly buried in our stories.  I have to say that my Funeral Planner Suspense Series has been a challenge for me from the beginning because my normal voice has a hopeful, light tone.  Heck, I even have a cute dog in the series!

Does my voice (and the dog) contrast too much with funerals and suspense?  Now, I’ve already explored the concept of a ‘good’ funeral on TRS today (you might want to take a peek at http://theromancestudio.blogspot.com/).  But the question remains as the suspense heightens with each book.  Can I successfully write a light suspense/romance series about something as dark as funerals?

Any other suspense writers struggling with the tricky mix of light and dark?  What have you learned?

BLURB:
Jan Solvang has spent her life avoiding conflict and commitment. Six months ago, she left a marriage proposal and a job in Seattle to care for her dying mother. Now she's stuck with her mother's California house and her mother's dog, filling her mother's shoes as a memorial planner with her estranged father.

Roman Keller thrives on conflict, writing documentaries that reveal the flaws of the famous. Jan’s challenge is to help him write a positive eulogy for a grandfather he disliked, but Roman is more interested in her other client: a powerful attorney with a dark past his family wants buried with him. If Jan stands behind the family and Roman goes for the exposé, who’s in danger and who wins?

The tension between them pulls tighter as each discovers the other is keeping secrets.  But if they tell the truth, will they destroy any chance for love?
