Welcome multi-published author, Crystal Rain Love!

It's great to have you here today, Crystal! You seem a very busy and prolific lady and I'm looking forward to learning how you manage your days and your writing. Love your author pic, lol!

Let's start the interview... :)

1) Who is your favorite writer? Why?

I have more than one. F.Scott Fitzgerald, Stephen King, Gena Showalter, Linda Warren, Joan Johnston, Kathleen Bacus, etc. Basically, anyone who can take me to another world, stir my emotions, or make me laugh out loud.

2) When did you first consider yourself a writer?

I’ve been writing since I was in elementary school, but I think I figured it out sometime in middle school that most people didn’t have characters in their head or a constant need for pen and paper like I did. I knew then I would have to be a writer or never truly be happy.

3) Describe your writing space?

A very messy desk, or wherever I tote my laptop.

4) What are you reading now?

I am reading the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind.

5) How many books have your written? Which is your favourite?

All together, to date, I have written eleven books, two of which may never be published. J Slayer’s Prey had been my favorite for years. I really love the hero, Jake Porter, who is a bit more fun than most romance heroes. He’s got a bit of a mischievous, slightly juvenile sense of humor and attitude that makes you laugh, but is still that alpha hero who takes care of his woman and handles his responsibilities.

6) What comes first, plot or characters?

Hmmm….. Usually the characters and one scene pop into my head instantaneously. It all grows from there.

7) Do you ever suffer from writer’s block?

I have for the past year, and am finally getting back into the swing of things. I’ve had a pretty emotional year, and people do not realize what depression can suck out of you. Writing, usually my therapy, was lost to me. I am so glad to be writing again!

8) What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

I read a lot, play computer games like Sims 3 and Facebook games (Curse you, Facebook, and your addictiveness!), listen to music, spend time with my kids and pets, and watch a lot of Supernatural, Nikita, Big Bang Theory, Ghost Adventures, and NCIS. I’ve also been known to make some crazy 3D cakes.

9) Tell us about your latest book?

Written around 2004 or 2005, Slayer’s Prey is finally coming out this month. It is the second book in my Blood Revelation series, which is a paranormal romance series revolving around a group of immortals predestined to save the world from Satan’s wrath.

The blurb and back cover copy:

He was born to slay

She was born to save his life ...

If he doesn't take hers first.

Since the night he watched a group of vampires kill his best friend, Jacob Porter has vowed to destroy them all. Now he finds himself in the strange predicament of owing a few of the monsters his gratitude for helping save his brother's life.

On the trail of a killer, he meets the mysterious Nyla Katt, a gorgeous, violet-eyed huntress who claims to be after the same demon-possessed murderer. Jake doesn't play well with others, and has enough on his plate to deal with without the beautiful, sword-wielding hellcat pushing all his buttons while driving him wild with desire. Yet, there's something about the woman, something familiar that he just can't put his finger on...

Nyla has watched over Jake for over half his life, but he only knew her as the black cat he found in the alley the night his friend was killed. She saved his life that night, and now they must work together to keep each other alive and fulfill a destiny planned for them before they were even born.

But if Jake realizes the woman he has fallen in love with is the cat he's been telling his secrets to for years, and the very thing he hunts... he may kill her before their destiny can be fulfilled.

10) What’s next for you?

I’ve completed the third and fourth books in the Blood Revelation series so there will be some editing in my near future. I still have four books left in that series, and am quite a few chapters into the writing of the second book in my Cook County, Colorado series.

Thanks so much for having me!

You're welcome and I am so sorry to hear you had a bad year and really hope 2012 brings a time of success and good times. Best wishes with Slayer's Prey!

  4. Thanks, everyone :) It looks like Slayer's Prey will not be out until April. I'm anxious for its release so everyone can get know Jake and Nyla!

@JM I am about to read "Confessor". Taking a break and reading a romance first. The SOT series is great, but very deep. I needed a change of pace before diving into the next one. :)
