Welcome fabulously funny UK writer, Jane Lovering!

Well, here I am, cup of tea in one hand and large packet of chocolate HobNobs in the other, barging my way into Rachel’s lovely blog and taking the best chair. She did invite me, after all, and you wouldn’t expect me to sit on the carpet, would you? Anyway. I am almost sure that I’m here to talk about my upcoming release Vampire State of Mind, although given my propensity for forgetting what I’m doing from day to day I might well have been invited to give a rundown of the Oscars or to talk about shoes. No, no, Rachel is nodding, so I think it’s the vampires... or it might be that she’s got a crumb stuck and needs the Heimlich manoeuvre... Tell you what, I’ll talk about the vampires and if she stops breathing I’ll go over and help...

Vampires. Ah yes. Look, here’s the blurb...

‘Jessica Grant knows vampires only too well. She runs the York Council tracker programme, making sure that Otherworlders are all where they should be, keeps the filing in order and drinks far too much coffee. To Jess, vampires are annoying and arrogant and far too sexy for their own good, particularly her ex-colleague Sil, who’s now in charge of Otherworld York. But when a demon turns up and threatens not just Jess but the whole world order, she and Sil are forced to work together, and when Jess turns out to be the key to saving the world it puts a very different slant on their relationship. The stakes are high. They are also very, very pointy and Jess isn’t afraid to use them, even on the vampire that she’s rather afraid she’s falling in love with..’.

As you can probably tell, my vampires aren’t like other people’s. They are gorgeous, of course, otherwise what would be the point, but they aren’t bloodthirsty lunatics, well, most of them aren’t, and... and I want to stress this most carefully... they do not sparkle. Unless they are covered in glitter. They are humans who carry a demon parasite which gives them certain physical advantages. But the demon lives off hormones, so it tends to drive its human to the edge of madness just for the hell of it. Nice, huh?

Vampire State of Mind features, variously, HobNobs, M&S egg sandwiches, Betty’s Tea Rooms, a Bugati Veyron, a cat called Jasper and death, and is released from Choc Lit on 07 August. Oh, hang on, Rachel’s started pointing at her watch and gesturing with a big stick with a hook on the end, so I’d better leave it there. Consider your appetites whetted. And no, I’m not talking about the HobNobs.Jane can be found at www.janelovering.co.uk and followed on Twitter @janelovering

Thanks for stopping by, lovely lady! I first met Jane when I arrived nervous and feeling sick at my first Romantic Novelist Association conference in 2010 - Jane was one of the first people I spoke to and within minutes I was at completely at ease and laughing. She is fabulous!

  5. Forgive my American Liberal Arts education, but, what is a Hob-Nob? I'm starting to think you speak a whole different language!

    1. No, no, you've got it all wrong, Susan. HobNobs first, then oranges. Or more HobNobs.
