A HUGE thank you for all your wonderful wishes!!

For those of you who don't know, my eldest daughter was knocked down by a car travelling at 30mph on Monday, but by some miracle came away without any broken bones or long-lasting damage.

Her head hit the windscreen hard enough to cause it to shatter, she was then thrown four feet into the air before landing on her front on the concrete road. The phone call from her hysterical best friend was the worst of my life.

My husband and I were then put through the ordeal of a 50 minute wait for the ambulance to arrive which had to come from Bath as there were no crews available in my home town. Once they arrived, the paramedics were fantastic and looked after Jess with a care and humour that left her smiling and a lot more relaxed.

After five hours in a head and neck brace, and nine x-rays later, my baby girl was sent home very battered and bruised but okay. I thank God every day and know he has a bigger plan for her. She's promised me and him she will deliver...

Thank you so much for all your wonderful messages - I am posting a 'before' and 'after' pic, not to upset you but to show you the depth of my distress and the way Jess will soon look after the predicted full recovery.

Love,
Rachel x

  10. Thank you so much! I will show her your comments later, she'll be thrilled. She's already excited because the local paper want to run her story to try and get the speed limit on this particular road reduced to 20mph. Yay!

  12. OMG, Rachel, I can't imagine what you would have been going through initially. Big hugs. You have one brave, special little (well, big actually) girl, who is extremely lucky. (Not lucky to be hit by a car, but very lucky to survive it with just bruises). Wishing her a speedy recovery, and that your nerves are back intact. Pour yourself a huge glass of wine! Love Teresa x

  16. What a beautiful face. It may be battered and bruised but there are no fractures, no traumatic brain injury. No missing teeth or scars that won't heel. Just the beautiful resilience of a youthful, strong spirit. Thank God everything turned out as well as it did.

  21. I'm so happy your gorgeous girl is doing well Rachel. I've been thinking about her and am so glad for the update - thank you!

My oldest brother got hit by a car when he was doing a milk round years ago, but he has scars to prove it. He thinks they're pretty cool scars though - makes him look a little like a tough-guy he reckons! I'm so glad the beautiful Jess will only have the memories to remind her of the accident once her scrapes and bruises have healed.

She has one wonderful guardian angel!
