Holding Out For A Hero With Hidden Depths

Big thanks to Rachel for letting me drop by to talk about my two current releases – Flirting With The Fireman (The Wild Rose Press) and Nanny Behaving Badly (Embrace Books).

Since I’ve two books recently released I thought I’d talk briefly about Heroes and explore how even though they can be completely different often it’s the essential hidden parts of their character that are similar.

Flirting With The Fireman features a hot, sparky fireman best man. Rod knows girls are hot for him. He courts attention. He’s a stereo-type hero firefighter with lots of chat and attitude. But sometimes the surface obscures what lies beneath.

Rod’s been through things in the past that most of his hangers-on have no clue about. He’s sensitive, loyal, courageous. He just needs the right woman to come along and cast aside the bravado and bluster. In Flirting With The Fireman – he finally finds ‘the one’. And finally realises that he’s been looking to find her for longer than he’s known.

Nanny Behaving Badly is entirely different - set in a busy festive coffee bar in wintertime Edinburgh with a hero who some might call uptight.

Lyle Sutherland is a business-focused single dad who’s been forced to sideline his rally-driver pro career to care for his young son. He’s serious and has high standards. His protocols are for discipline and self-restraint – which is all well and good until he rubs up against his rebellious new recruit barista and finds himself forced into employing her as his nanny.

The last thing Lyle needs is sass and full-on attitude in the form of a confrontational woman . And yet when it comes right down to it, it’s what he loves best about his new, madcap nanny.

The thing about Lyle I liked the most is that his tough, gruff exterior hides a melting centre.

What do they have in common?

They just need the right woman to bring out the side they hide from the world. I’ve love it if you’re tempted to try them, hope you enjoy them and if you do I’d love to know.

You can find out more about both books at my website www.judyjarvie.com.

Yum, yum, that's all I can say! Creating the heroes in my books is my favourite part, probably more so than the heroines...what a lovely way to play out our fantasises and create so pretty amazing men.

Absolutely yum. I do love 'living with' my heroes (though don't tell hubbie!)

  2. Hello Judy! I've read both of these books as you know and adored them both. How are you coping with having two books out so close together? You must be knackered!

  3. Actually - it has been a bit of a cyclone! Good but at times a whirlwind of activity!

Hope you've enjoyed your own whirlwind with the wonderful Storm's Heart!
